Northern Ireland Trip

fundraising-goal

Sláinte!

I have been given an amazing opportunity to travel with my university (Cincinnati Christian University) to serve in Dundrum, Northern Ireland, next March. As I am sure my closer friends and family can attest, I have been in love with Irish and Celtic music and culture for most of my life, and this opportunity would fulfill a long-time dream of mine by finally allowing me to visit the Emerald Isle.

As I work toward finishing my undergraduate degree, I have begun to seriously consider what will come next for me. In my efforts to discover God’s plan for my life, I see this opportunity to travel to Northern Ireland as, among other things, a chance to discover further opportunities to glorify God by pursuing my passions, including my passion for Irish music and Celtic culture.

During the ten-day trip, I will work with the Celtic Christian Mission to provide youth programs for the young people of the area. Additionally, I will be given opportunities to connect and interact with many of the communities and schools in and around Dundrum, and beyond. As a lover of Irish history and culture, I am sure it will be a life-changing experience.

However, as with all service learning trips orchestrated by CCU, this trip will require me to cover travel and living expenses myself, and for that I will need help. This is why I have made this Facebook page: to appeal to the Facebook community for assistance. I need to raise $1670, $700 of which needs to be raised by January 8th.

There are many ways in which you can help me raise the money I need to make this trip a reality:

-I have started an online GoFundMe campaign, through which credit/debit card and PayPal donations are possible:
https://www.gofundme.com/help-iain-travel-to-ireland

-I have also prepared a T-shirt with my own custom design through Bonfire, which you can buy for $24.99, for which I will receive $12.63 for each shirt purchased:
https://www.bonfire.com/get-iain-to-ireland/

-I will also be sending out support letters! If you like to receive a letter, please email your mailing address to iain.skaggs@gmail.com.

Thought it may seem like a lot of money in not-a-lot of time, I have faith that, with your help, this trip will shift from a dream to reality. Thank you so much for your time and attention! Even if you are unable to donate, thank you for expressing interest in my efforts!

If you have any questions about this trip to Northern Ireland, Celtic Christian Mission, or anything else, feel free to email me at the address above. Thanks again!

Bonus trivia: My online gaming username (or “gamertag”) has been Eirreann ever since I started playing video games online, so about six years. “Eirreann” is literally just the Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic) word for Ireland (Eireann) with an extra ‘r’. Just to give you an idea of how enamoured I have been with Ireland in my youth.
